Meet the Founders
Co-founders Jenny Bennett and Lindsey Vick have decades of experience helping expectant parents
Jenny started working as a doula in 2012 and Lindsey, in 2005. A lot has changed! What started as two separate doula businesses, each with a focus on helping clients reframe their fear of childbirth pain, has merged into the most real-world-ready hypnobirthing program available.
The pair met in 2017 to compare notes on the two different hypnobirthing programs they were teaching. With a little bit of friendly competition in the mix, neither was quite ready to let go of the familiarity these brand names carry. Flash forward to 2020 in the middle of a pandemic: They'd each grown increasingly frustrated with outdated materials, a lack of support, and most importantly, the dogmatic approaches of these programs.
So they decided to do something about it! They got together with the primary goal of creating a parent curriculum and instructor training program that's built for the real world.
Imagine if you could hypnobirth in either the operating room or a birthing tub, according to your need or preference.
What if your partner knew how to show up effectively through real-world scenario based training?
HelloBirth classes bring both of these realities into focus. Most programs sell relaxation, peace, and a calm birth, and they'll even try to sell you an "all natural" birth. HelloBirth offers what you're really craving: agency, competence, and a feeling of, "I can handle this, no matter what!" And that makes the HelloBirth founders tingle with joy and excitement!
When they're not brainstorming ideas to bring this reality to the forefront, here's what Lindsey and Jenny are up to individually!
Lindsey runs Sunflowers Wellness, a busy birth and postpartum doula agency outside of Washington, DC. She brings her experience as a hypnotherapist addressing all sorts of issues, from smoking cessation to pain minimization techniques. When she's not attending to anything birth-related, Lindsey loves to catch up on sleep, walks around her beautiful Alexandria, VA neighborhood, chats with her husband Mark, chauffeur her youngest young adult to various dance- and school-related activities, or help her oldest manage his transition to collegiate life. She also likes to stop and pet her furry friends (a cat, a dog, and a rabbit), as well as enjoy an occasional glass of Prosecco to celebrate being "off call!"
Jenny is still a doula, but serves mostly repeat clients just a few times per year. This frees up her time to work on HelloBirth as well as serve as Managing Director for Doula Trainings International where she leads the team of doula educators. When she's not attending to anything birth-related, Jenny loves to hike and camp with her family and friends, as well as tend to her husband's goats and chickens. At Goat Farm Chicken Ranch, their friendly herd of hungry goats is available to rent for brush clearing in Leesburg, VA and surrounding areas. A few years ago, Jenny was promoted from "soccer mom" to "soccer and color guard mom," attending marching band competitions and soccer games within an easy 150-mile radius.
